My name is Kishikoro and I live in Yonaguni.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Yonaguni International Marlin Fishing Tournament was held for the first time in three years in Yonaguni, the westernmost point of Japan.
The northernmost fireworks display in Japan will also be held, so if you are visiting Yaeyama at this time, be sure to check it out.
Overview of the Yonaguni International Marlin Fishing Tournament

The Yonaguni International Marlin Fishing Tournament, the westernmost point of Japan, is held every year from the first Friday to Sunday of July in the Kubura village on Yonaguni Island (located west of Yonaguni).
In 2022, as shown in the image above, a huge 211kg marlin was caught, and the venue was in a frenzy.
There are restrictions in place on things like serving alcohol, so it will be very interesting to see what happens next year and beyond.
By the way, I've been doing a lot of research on why swordfish can move 25m in one second. Apparently they can reach that speed by minimizing water resistance to the limit, but it's incredibly fast, isn't it? The same goes for tuna.
The fish caught was a 211kg marlin.
Apparently there are some individuals that can swim a 25m pool in one second, but when I looked into the physics of that, several hours had passed.
By the way, I still don't know. The resistance is strong. pic.twitter.com/3pc1rmlQ1L

Stamp rally also held

Stamps were placed at restaurants, shops, etc. on the island, and a stamp rally was also held.
There were about 15 of us who participated, and we monopolized the top four places lol

After the marlin tournament there will be fireworks as a finale.
There aren't many launches, but they are launched from very close range so the angle of your neck is quite steep lol
You can even see the fireworks being launched, so if you're taking part in the marlin fishing tournament, be sure to check out the fireworks display before heading home.
