My name is Kishikoro and I live in Yonaguni.
Yonaguni Island is attracting more and more attention with the release of a new Dr. Koto movie in 2022.
I made 10 round trips between Yonaguni Island and Honshu in 2022, and I'll explain in detail how to visit the island cheaply.
The cheapest way to get to the airport where LCCs fly is via Ishigaki

- Narita Airport
- Chubu Centrair International Airport
- Kansai International Airport
- Fukuoka Airport
Peach operates direct flights from the above four airports to Ishigaki Airport.
Please note that flights may not be in operation at certain times of the year, but if you buy one on sale you can get a round trip ticket from each airport to Ishigaki Airport for around 10,000 yen.
I have also flown to Ishigaki Airport on Peach Airlines three times from Centrair and twice from Kansai International Airport, then transferred to Yonaguni Airport.
This is the cheapest method as of 2023, so if you live near these four airports, please consider this.

Fly to Naha with a low-cost carrier and then to Yonaguni Airport

The next cheapest way is to fly to Naha Airport with an LCC and then transfer to Yonaguni Airport.
- New Chitose Airport
- Narita Airport
- Chubu Centrair International Airport
- Kansai International Airport
- Fukuoka Airport
You can travel from the above airports to Naha Airport by Jetstar or Peach.
A one-way ticket from Ishigaki to Yonaguni Airport costs about 13,000 yen. A round-trip ticket is discounted to about 16,400 yen, but a one-way ticket to Naha Airport costs 36,000 yen. Even a round-trip ticket is quite expensive, starting at 40,000 yen, so if you want to keep travel costs down, we recommend flying via Ishigaki Airport.

JAL or ANA via Ishigaki or Naha
The most expensive option is to fly to Yonaguni Island via Ishigaki or Naha on a full-service carrier such as JAL or ANA. Since JAL operates the Ishigaki-Yonaguni route, it may be cheaper to fly with JAL than with ANA from Haneda, etc., as you can use transfer discounts.
The most expensive flight I have ever taken was from Haneda to Ishigaki to Yonaguni on the day, which cost me about 75,000 yen lol
It was quite expensive, but I had to get there on the day, so I reluctantly decided to go with it.
The cheapest way to get to Yonaguni is by boat from Ishigaki, but I don't recommend it.

The cheapest way to get to Yonaguni from Ishigaki is by ferry instead of flying, but this is a fairly advanced method.
The reason is that the boat is said to be the most rocking in Japan. I actually took a boat from Yonaguni to Ishigaki, but it was so hellish that I never want to ride it again in my life.
It's a highly recommended experience, but it will drain your energy so much that you might not be able to enjoy sightseeing.
If you are an experienced traveller, you should definitely try it.
I really thought it was the Bering Sea.
The Bering Sea?

summary
If you have access to low-cost carriers, the cheapest way is to come from Ishigaki Airport via LCC.
This was brought to you by Kishikoro, who has been watching the situation quietly, hoping that flights to Naha will become a little cheaper.
