My name is Kishikoro and I live in Yonaguni.
A new Dr. Koto movie released in December 2022.
This was filmed on Yonaguni Island in June 2022. I've been living there since then, and there was a call for extras all over Yonaguni, so I came on board.

I think it was around April 2022 that people started to get excited about the possibility of filming Dr. Koto.
In mid-May, signs calling for extras were put up all over Yonaguni, and filming began in earnest.
A sudden phone call from the assistant director
Just when I was thinking that he would appear as a very minor character, I received this email from the filming office.
"If you are a man between the ages of 20 and 49 who may be asked to play a sailor or detective role during the filming on the 18th and 21st (or if you have someone who is registering on your behalf), could you please send us the height, waist size, and shoe size of that person? We may be providing costumes for this person."
In the other shoot, I was playing the role of an islander walking around in casual clothes, but being a fashionista, I replied anyway. Just when I had completely forgotten that I had replied, the phone suddenly rang.
"Excuse me, this is Koto's assistant director, XX."
I was wondering what it all meant, but after some explanation I understood.
- The detective actor is unable to attend filming
- Please tell me your height and shoe size
- Maybe I'll get to play a detective role.
At this point, it wasn't decided yet, but I was just thinking, "Maybe I'll ask Kishikoro-san to do it!"
I received another call later, and was told that the costume I had brought with me was a perfect fit for her height, so I went to the shoot.
By the way, I took the photo in this outfit lol
Even though it was June, we were shooting under the blazing sun, and when I returned the costume, it was soaked with sweat. I'm sorry lol
We had to reshoot the scene many times, waiting for clouds under the blazing sun, or because the children were walking a little slow. I learned how hard it is to make a movie by being an extra for the first time.
The actors are really putting their lives on the line in every single scene lol
Shikina Island Car still in operation
In Yonaguni, there are still cars with stickers of Shikina Island on them that were used when the photo was taken.
