My name is Kishikoro and I live in Yonaguni.
I used to be a hunter in the mountains, but I haven't done that since coming to Yonaguni.
Because there are no animals to harvest on Yonaguni.
So I started fishing.
Trying it randomly at Nanta Beach
I had some free time, so I went to the breakwater at Nanta Beach near my house and caught a sea bream using a fishing tackle I made after watching YouTube.

Apparently it's a sea bream called "Fuefukidai" here. I immediately gutted it and decorated it with the hibiscus that grows in my garden.
It looked tropical. The yellowtail was very delicious. It tasted almost like red sea bream.
With equipment costing about 2,000 yen, amateurs can just cast the line and catch fish five minutes from their homes. I thought Yonaguni was amazing.
I've been fishing in Aichi Prefecture a few times, and I always get really excited when I catch a horse mackerel.
Kubura Fishing Port is almost a fishing pond

We greeted the people at Kubura Fishing Port and were allowed to use a spot that would not be in the way. We are very grateful to the people at the fishing port.
This is almost a fishing pond. Just like in the video, you can catch fish one after another.
I cast it about 40m and caught a big horse mackerel right away.
My 2,000 yen fishing rod was screaming, but I somehow managed to pull it up.

I grilled it with sashimi and soy sauce and it was also really delicious.
I caught two 20cm horse mackerel-like fish, so I ate them as sashimi and grilled.

Opposite Yonaguni Fishing Port
There are many boats near Yonaguni Fishing Port, so be careful not to get in their way.
If you are a first-time fisherman and would like to fish at the fishing port, you will need to be sociable and say hello to the people there, so if you are not able to do that, we recommend the area near the breakwater opposite the fishing port.
There are many places in Honshu where there are many anglers, but there is almost no one in Yonaguni lol

This smelly sea bream called Isuzumidai is often caught here.
It is rumored that it is delicious when boiled in salt, but I am not really interested in doing so so I release it here and there.
Every time I go fishing in Yonaguni I think to myself how amazing it is that you can get so many bites just by throwing the bait.
I'm going to try squid fishing in the future.
From now on, I'll go squid fishing when squid season comes.
When marlin season comes around, I'd like to charter a boat to go marlin fishing!!
