My name is Kishikoro and I live in Yonaguni.
This time we will be introducing a Japanese-style pub called Hate located in Sonai, Yonaguni Island!
It's the closest restaurant to my house, so I go there often.
Border location
The border is here.
There are only three elevators on Yonaguni, and one of them is used to go to the border.
The other two are in Island Hotel, which is closed, so the only elevator you can take in Yonaguni is when you go to the border lol
Border appearance

It looks like this. They sometimes serve lunch, but they usually open at night. The lanterns and signboards are lit up at night.

Border menu etc.

There are many Okinawa-style dishes on the menu. The signboard displays the day's specials, so be sure to check that out too.
One dish you should definitely try is the coconut crab miso gunkan.

I think you can probably only get it on Yonaguni Island.
Maybe you can eat it in Ishigaki? But I've never seen it before lol
If you don't know what coconut crab is,HereI would like you to read on, but it is a huge creature that lives in the Yaeyama Islands.

This guy's miso is going to be turned into gunkan (battleship) lol
Apparently, among coconut crabs there are some that taste bad in miso and some that taste good, and even across the border it can sometimes be hard to find.
If there was any, we would eat about 8 volumes and it would be almost gone lol

In Yonaguni, sushi is only served at the border.
Make a reservation for the night
It's best to make a reservation for dinner. Most days are fully booked.

summary
This was an introduction to the border at Sonai.
If you see coconut crab gunkan, be sure to try it.
